If you have consented to data processing, we process your personal data on the basis of Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR or Art. 9(2)(a) GDPR where special categories of data under Art. 9(1) GDPR are processed. The following paragraphs of this Privacy Policy explain the legal bases applicable in each individual case.

Recipients of personal data

As part of our business activities, we work with various external parties. This sometimes requires personal data to be transferred to those parties. We disclose personal data to external parties only where this is necessary to perform a contract, where we are legally obliged to do so, for example, when disclosing data to tax authorities, where we have a legitimate interest in disclosure under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, or where another legal basis permits disclosure. When using processors, we disclose our customers' personal data only on the basis of a valid data processing agreement. In cases of joint processing, a joint processing agreement is concluded.

Withdrawal of your consent to data processing

Many data processing operations are possible only with your express consent. You may withdraw consent you have already given at any time. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of data processing carried out before it was withdrawn.

Right to object to data collection in specific cases and to direct marketing (Art. 21 GDPR)

IF DATA IS PROCESSED ON THE BASIS OF ART. 6(1)(E) OR (F) GDPR, YOU HAVE THE RIGHT AT ANY TIME TO OBJECT TO THE PROCESSING OF YOUR PERSONAL DATA ON GROUNDS RELATING TO YOUR PARTICULAR SITUATION; THIS ALSO APPLIES TO PROFILING BASED ON THESE PROVISIONS. THE LEGAL BASIS ON WHICH PROCESSING IS BASED CAN BE FOUND IN THIS PRIVACY POLICY. IF YOU OBJECT, WE WILL NO LONGER PROCESS YOUR PERSONAL DATA CONCERNED UNLESS WE CAN DEMONSTRATE COMPELLING LEGITIMATE GROUNDS FOR THE PROCESSING THAT OVERRIDE YOUR INTERESTS, RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS, OR THE PROCESSING SERVES THE ESTABLISHMENT, EXERCISE OR DEFENCE OF LEGAL CLAIMS (OBJECTION UNDER ART. 21(1) GDPR).

IF YOUR PERSONAL DATA IS PROCESSED FOR DIRECT MARKETING PURPOSES, YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO OBJECT AT ANY TIME TO THE PROCESSING OF YOUR PERSONAL DATA FOR SUCH MARKETING; THIS ALSO APPLIES TO PROFILING TO THE EXTENT THAT IT IS RELATED TO SUCH DIRECT MARKETING. This right to complain is without prejudice to any other administrative or judicial remedies.

Right to data portability

You have the right to receive data that we process automatically on the basis of your consent or in performance of a contract, or to have it provided to a third party, in a commonly used, machine-readable format. If you request direct transfer of the data to another controller, this will take place only where technically feasible.

Access, rectification and erasure

Under the applicable statutory provisions, you have the right at any time to receive information free of charge about your stored personal data, its origin and recipients, and the purpose of its processing, and, where applicable, a right to have this data corrected or deleted. You may contact us at any time about this or other questions relating to personal data.

Right to restriction of processing

You have the right to request restriction of the processing of your personal data. You may contact us at any time to do so. The right to restriction of processing applies in the following cases:

  • If you contest the accuracy of the personal data we hold about you, we generally need time to verify it. During that verification period, you have the right to request restriction of the processing of your personal data.
  • If your personal data was or is being processed unlawfully, you may request restriction of processing instead of deletion.
  • If we no longer need your personal data but you need it to exercise, defend or establish legal claims, you have the right to request restriction of processing instead of deletion.
  • If you have objected under Art. 21(1) GDPR, your interests must be weighed against ours. Until it has been established whose interests prevail, you have the right to request restriction of the processing of your personal data.

If you have restricted the processing of your personal data, that data may, apart from being stored, be processed only with your consent, for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims, to protect the rights of another natural or legal person, or for reasons of important public interest of the European Union or a Member State.

When SSL or TLS encryption is enabled, the data you send to us cannot be read by third parties.

Objection to promotional emails

We hereby object to the use of contact details published as part of the legal notice obligations for sending unsolicited advertising and information materials. The operators of these pages expressly reserve the right to take legal action in the event of unsolicited promotional information being sent, for example through spam emails.

4. Data collection on this website

Cookies

Our websites use “cookies”. Cookies are small data packages and do not damage your device. They are stored on your device either temporarily for the duration of a session (session cookies) or permanently (persistent cookies). Session cookies are deleted automatically at the end of your visit. Persistent cookies remain stored on your device until you delete them yourself or they are deleted automatically by your web browser.

Cookies may be set by us (first-party cookies) or by third-party companies (third-party cookies). Third-party cookies allow certain third-party services to be integrated into websites, for example, cookies used to process payment services.

Cookies perform various functions. Many cookies are technically necessary because certain website features would not work without them, for example, the shopping basket function or displaying videos. Other cookies may be used to analyse user behaviour or for advertising purposes.

Cookies required to carry out electronic communications, provide specific functions you request, for example, the shopping basket function, or optimise the website, for example, cookies used to measure the website audience (necessary cookies), are stored on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR unless another legal basis is stated. The website operator has a legitimate interest in storing necessary cookies to provide its services in a technically error-free and optimised manner. If consent to the storage of cookies and comparable recognition technologies has been requested, processing takes place exclusively on the basis of that consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and Section 25(1) TDDDG); consent may be withdrawn at any time.

You can configure your browser to notify you when cookies are set and to allow cookies only on a case-by-case basis, reject cookies in certain cases or in general, and automatically delete cookies when the browser is closed. Disabling cookies may restrict the functionality of this website.

You can find out which cookies and services are used on this website in this Privacy Policy.

Consent with Rennradguru Privacy

We use our own locally hosted consent tool, Rennradguru Privacy, to manage your privacy choices. Optional external content and services remain blocked until you allow the relevant service. You can change your privacy settings or withdraw optional consent at any time.

The first-party consent cookie __Host-rgp-state remembers your choice and the current notice version for up to 180 days. It is signed, Secure and HttpOnly. Where the WordPress Consent API adapter is active, technical preference cookies named wp_consent_* may also be used. The current services and storage details are listed in our Cookie Policy.

Consent receipts are stored on this website's hosting server for up to 365 days. They contain a pseudonymous identifier, the time, notice version, selected service identifiers, separate acknowledgements and a receipt identifier. These consent receipts do not record IP addresses, user-agent strings, email addresses, newsletter entries or visited URLs. This description concerns the consent tool; the separate processing described elsewhere in this Privacy Policy remains unchanged.

The legal bases for processing personal data in this context are Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR and Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is managing the cookies and similar technologies used and the associated consent.

Providing personal data is neither contractually required nor necessary to enter into a contract. You are not obliged to provide personal data. If you do not provide the personal data, we cannot manage your consent.

Server log files

The website provider automatically collects and stores information in server log files that your browser transmits to us automatically. This includes:

  • Browser type and version
  • Operating system used
  • Referrer URL
  • Hostname of the accessing computer
  • Time of the server request
  • IP address

This data is not combined with data from other sources.

This data is collected on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest in the technically error-free presentation and optimisation of its website, which requires server log files to be collected.

Comment function on this website

When users leave comments on the blog, the data entered in the comment form is stored and published after we have reviewed it.
Comments are published only after manual approval. They are not published automatically.

IP addresses

To prevent misuse, WordPress technically stores the IP address briefly when a comment is submitted. However, the “GDPR Tools: Comment IP Removement” plugin automatically anonymises or deletes these IP addresses, so the IP address is not retained as personal data.

Cookies

When commenting, users can choose voluntarily whether cookies may be stored in their browser.
These cookies store the comment author's name, email address and, where applicable, website so that these details can be filled in automatically for future comments.

These cookies are stored only if the user actively consents in the comment form (opt-in).
Without consent, no cookies are set in connection with the comment function.

The cookies are valid for 1 year and can be deleted at any time through your browser settings.

Legal basis

Data is processed on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest).
Our legitimate interest is maintaining and moderating the comment function.
The optional storage of comment data in cookies is based on Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent).

Retention period

The data provided remains stored until the commented-on post or the comment is deleted or must be removed for legal reasons.

No disclosure / no external services

Comment data is not disclosed to third parties.
Avatars (e.g. Gravatar) and external spam or tracking services are not used.

Withdrawal / deletion

Users may request the deletion of their comments at any time.
An informal message to the contact address in the legal notice is sufficient.

5. Social media

Instagram

Features of the Instagram service are integrated into this website. These features are provided by Meta Platforms Ireland Limited, Merrion Road, Dublin 4, D04 X2K5, Ireland.

When the social media element is active, a direct connection is established between your device and the Instagram server. Instagram thereby receives information about your visit to this website.

If you are logged into your Instagram account, clicking the Instagram button lets you link content from this website to your Instagram profile. This enables Instagram to associate your visit to this website with your user account. Please note that, as the website provider, we have no knowledge of the content of the transmitted data or how Instagram uses it.

This service is used on the basis of your consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and Section 25(1) TDDDG. Consent may be withdrawn at any time.

Insofar as the tool described here collects personal data on our website and forwards it to Facebook or Instagram, we and Meta Platforms Ireland Limited, 4 Grand Canal Square, Grand Canal Harbour, Dublin 2, Ireland are jointly responsible for this data processing (Art. 26 GDPR). This joint responsibility is limited exclusively to collecting the data and forwarding it to Facebook or Instagram. Processing by Facebook or Instagram after the data has been forwarded is not part of the joint responsibility. Our joint obligations are set out in a joint processing agreement. The agreement can be found at: https://www.facebook.com/legal/controller_addendum. Under this agreement, we are responsible for providing data protection information when using the Facebook or Instagram tool and for implementing the tool securely on our website in accordance with data protection law. Facebook is responsible for the data security of Facebook and Instagram products. You can exercise your rights as a data subject, for example, requests for access, regarding data processed by Facebook or Instagram directly with Facebook. If you exercise these rights with us, we are obliged to forward them to Facebook.

Data transfers to the USA are based on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses. Details can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/legal/EU_data_transfer_addendum, https://privacycenter.instagram.com/policy/ and https://de-de.facebook.com/help/566994660333381.

Further information can be found in Instagram's privacy policy: https://privacycenter.instagram.com/policy/.

The company is certified under the “EU-US Data Privacy Framework” (DPF). The DPF is an agreement between the European Union and the USA intended to ensure compliance with European data protection standards when data is processed in the USA. Every company certified under the DPF undertakes to comply with these standards. Further information is available from the provider at the following link: https://www.dataprivacyframework.gov/participant/4452.

6. Analytics tools and advertising

WP Statistics

This website uses the WP Statistics analytics tool to statistically evaluate visits. The provider is Veronalabs, Tatari 64, 10134 Tallinn, Estonia (https://veronalabs.com).

WP Statistics allows us to analyse how our website is used. Among other things, WP Statistics records log files (IP address, referrer, browser used, user's origin and search engine used) and actions taken by website visitors, for example, clicks and views.

Data collected with WP Statistics is stored exclusively on our own server.

This analytics tool is used on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. We have a legitimate interest in anonymously analysing user behaviour to optimise both our website and our advertising. Where consent has been requested, processing takes place exclusively on the basis of Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and Section 25(1) TDDDG, insofar as that consent covers the storage of cookies or access to information on the user's device, for example, device fingerprinting, within the meaning of the TDDDG. Consent may be withdrawn at any time.

IP anonymisation

We use WP Statistics with anonymised IP addresses. Your IP address is shortened so that it can no longer be directly associated with you.

Google Analytics

This website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (“Google”).

We use Google Analytics 4 to statistically evaluate how our website is used. This may involve processing information about pages visited, interactions, the device and browser used, and approximate location. Google Analytics may use cookies for this purpose. According to Google, IP addresses are not logged or stored in Google Analytics 4; they are used during collection to determine approximate location and are then discarded.

On behalf of this website's operator, Google will use this information to evaluate your use of the website, compile reports on website activity and provide the website operator with other services relating to website and internet use.

Data is processed on the basis of your consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR. You may withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future by changing your privacy settings or withdrawing your consent.

Data processing agreement

We have concluded a data processing agreement with Google and fully implement the strict requirements of the data protection authorities when using Google Analytics.

Data transfers to third countries

Google may also transfer data to the USA. The USA is considered an unsafe third country within the meaning of the GDPR. There is a risk that US authorities may access the data without you being able to take legal action against this. This happens only if you have expressly consented to the use of Google Analytics.

Further information about data protection at Google can be found at:
🔗 Google Analytics privacy information
🔗 Google Privacy Policy

Google reCaptcha

We use Google's reCaptcha service to determine whether a human or a computer is making a particular entry in our contact or newsletter form. Google uses the following data to check whether you are a human or a computer: the IP address of the device used, the page you visit on our website where the Captcha is embedded, the date and duration of the visit, identification data for the browser and operating system types used, your Google account if you are logged into Google, mouse movements within the reCaptcha areas, and tasks requiring you to identify images. The legal basis for this processing is Art. 6(1)(f) of the General Data Protection Regulation. We have a legitimate interest in this processing to ensure the security of our website and protect ourselves against automated entries or attacks.

7. Newsletter

Newsletter data

If you would like to receive the newsletter offered on this website, we need your email address and information that allows us to verify that you own the email address provided and consent to receiving the newsletter. No further data is collected, or it is collected only on a voluntary basis. We use this data exclusively to send and manage the newsletter. We use CleverReach as a processor for this purpose, as described in the following section.

Data entered in the newsletter registration form is processed exclusively on the basis of your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You may withdraw your consent to the storage of your data and email address, and their use for sending the newsletter, at any time, for example through the “Unsubscribe” link in the newsletter. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing already carried out.

Data you provide for the purpose of receiving the newsletter is stored by us or the newsletter service provider until you unsubscribe, and is deleted from the mailing list after you unsubscribe or the purpose no longer applies. We reserve the right to delete or block email addresses from our newsletter mailing list at our discretion within the scope of our legitimate interest under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

Data stored by us for other purposes remains unaffected.

After you unsubscribe from the newsletter mailing list, your email address may be stored by us or the newsletter service provider on a blocklist if this is necessary to prevent future mailings. Data on the blocklist is used only for this purpose and is not combined with other data. This serves both your interest and our interest in complying with the legal requirements for sending newsletters (legitimate interest within the meaning of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Storage on the blocklist is not time-limited. You may object to this storage if your interests outweigh our legitimate interest.

Sending newsletters with CleverReach

You can subscribe to our newsletter on our website. The newsletter regularly informs you about new product reviews, buying guides, recommendations and tips on road cycling training, technology and equipment.

We need your email address to register you for our newsletter. Other information, such as your name, is voluntary and is used only to address you personally in the newsletter.

Registration and double opt-in procedure

Newsletter registration uses a double opt-in procedure. After registering, you will receive an email asking you to confirm your registration. You will be added to the mailing list only after confirming.

In particular, the following data is processed during registration and confirmation:

  • Your email address,

  • the date and time of registration,
  • the date and time of confirmation, and
  • the IP address used during registration and confirmation.

The registration process is logged to demonstrate that you have consented to receiving the newsletter and to prevent misuse of your email address.

The legal basis for sending the newsletter is your consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR. Registration and confirmation data is processed to demonstrate your consent on the basis of our legitimate interest in legally compliant documentation and defending potential legal claims under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

According to CleverReach, data is stored and processed on servers in Germany or within the European Union.

Further information about CleverReach's data processing can be found in its privacy policy: CleverReach Privacy Policy.

Newsletter analytics

Individual open and click tracking is disabled for our newsletter. We do not create personal profiles recording whether you open a newsletter or which links you click in it.

Retention period

Your data is generally stored for as long as you subscribe to our newsletter.

After you unsubscribe, your data is deleted from the active newsletter mailing list or blocked, unless statutory retention obligations or other legal grounds prevent deletion.

Data required to demonstrate previously given consent may be retained for the applicable statutory limitation periods on the basis of our legitimate interest in defending potential legal claims.

Your email address may also be stored on a blocklist to ensure that you receive no further newsletters after unsubscribing. Storage on the blocklist is based on our legitimate interest in respecting your withdrawal and preventing further unwanted newsletters under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

Withdrawal and unsubscribing

You may withdraw your consent to receiving the newsletter at any time with effect for the future. Each newsletter contains an unsubscribe link for this purpose. Alternatively, you may send your withdrawal to the contact details provided in this Privacy Policy.

Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before it was withdrawn. After unsubscribing, you will receive no further newsletters from us unless another legal basis permits us to contact you.

Please enter your email address to unsubscribe.
